Topshop Lipstick in 'Innocent' (Plus new blonde locks!)

Topshop Velvet Finish Moisturising Lipstick in 'Innocent'

Another day, another Topshop lipstick! This shade really reminds me of 'Snob' by MAC, with it's creamy matte pink finish in an almost, but not quite, Barbie reminiscent colour. I love the blue and lilac undertones of this shade, which set it apart from the over-saturation of girly pink shades that there is out there. It's such a wearable shade at any time of the day or night; a gorgeous subtle yet pretty shade perfect for complimenting dramatic smokey eyes for an evening look, or teamed with simple liquid liner flicks for daytime wear. The finish, as with most Topshop lipsticks, is creamy and matte with just the right amount of moisture. Topshop is without doubt the home of my favorite high street lipstick range, i just can't resist picking them up in-store or adding them to my basket online!

I had my hair done yesterday you may or may not have noticed, i was sick of the sight of my dip dye as i've been maintaining one for well over a year now and i just really fancied a change. It was going a really toffee caramel warm tone at the top and i hadn't been happy with it for a long time. I was blonde for a couple years and was really silly one day and dyed it dark brown.. So it's been a bit of a relentless struggle lightening it up since then but now it's so close to how i want it! Just a few ash based low-lights and an icy toner and i reckon i'll finally give my hair the long-awaited break from the  chemicals it deserves!

Lately...

Instagram: laurenjade109

Christmas fairs and markets, woolly hats, coats and early nights, frosty morning walks and warm tea, rainy days spent baking and festive drinks with friends.. what's not to love about Winter! I personally much prefer it to Summer.. not that we realistically actually get one in the UK! I've literally spent the whole day online Christmas shopping, organising some new posts, putting a few bits and pieces on ebay, and testing out some lovely skin and hair products I've been sent to review by a couple of very generous brands, the perks of blogging never cease to amaze me. Tonight i'm going to chill with a candle and a Christmas film, good night to all and to all a good night!

Black Pork Pie Bowler Hat - Topshop (here)
Fur Stole - Ebay (here)
Paisley Dress - Boohoo (here)
Cross Bracelet - Topshop (from a set)
Stag Necklace - Boohoo (here)

I've forgotton how short days are in the Winter time! There's a three hour window in the afternoon to get decent pictures taken and i clearly didn't make the time period yesterday, so please excuse the absolutely atrocious quality of these.. and the complete state my room was in! I've tidied it all up since then, honest. I usually don't go for printed dresses but this little mono chrome number caught my eye. Perfect dress to take from day to night over the festive period, and i think it looks really nice with my fure stole and black pork pie hat.

I'm off to get my hair done tomorrow afternoon, i only had it done a few weeks ago but this appointment really can't come quick enough, every time i get it toned this toffee blonde shade keeps reappearing! I'm going to have a chat with my lovely new hairdresser tomorrow and see what she thinks but i'm pretty sure some peroxide is going to be involved, wish me luck!

November Favourites

L'OREAL PARIS TRIPLE ACTIVE RE-NOURISH VELVETY TONER - I simply can't rave about this product enough. A thick liquid-based toner that illuminates and nourishes your skin. I apply this in the morning and after taking my makeup off in the evening with a makeup wipe, followed by a cleanser, and then this; pouring some onto a cotton wool ball and rubbing it around my face in circular motion. The liquid is quite cooling and soothing, and feels silky and light on the skin. It's seriously amazing how much makeup wipes and cleansers can actually leave behind! After use my skin looks immediately better, toned and completely lacking any red patches that makeup removing can sometimes inflict. I actually feel really comfortable without makeup on when I've applied this, and that's saying something as usually i wouldn't be seen dead without my foundation and eyeliner flicks!

SOAP & GLORY THE GREATEST SCRUB OF ALL FACIAL EXFOLIATOR  -Yes, yet another Soap & Glory product for me to shower in compliments, they're branding is just so fun and full of personality it's hard to resist picking something or other up in Boots. I really love this facial scrub, the little 'smooth boost' beads that pop when you massage it into your skin make it feel like it's actually exfoliating and deep cleansing, and after use my skin feels soft, renewed and dead-cell free! I use this around twice or three times a week when my skin starts to feel a little congested around the nose and chin area, and the appearance of pores is definitely reduced after pro-longed use.

THE BODY SHOP STRAWBERRY PUREE BODY LOTION - The scent of this product is just absolutely divine! I use this every day after showering and it's just so yummy, if only it were actually edible. It's such a sweet but strong smelling body lotion, when i use this everyone can smell it the whole way around the house, part body lotion part air freshener! The creamy smooth lotion sinks into the skin beautifully, leaving it moisturized and glowing and smelling like a dream. What more could you want from a body lotion really?

WEN BY CHAZ DEAN FIG CLEANSING CONDITIONER* - Wen were lovely enough to send me out a sample of this fig scented cleansing conditioner for my hair, all 480mls of it, which was so generous. I'm constantly on a never-ending hunt for conditioners and general amazing hair products as i've been quite unkind to my hair over the years, from DIY dye jobs in my early teens and bleaching my way through my later teens! I can honestly say this product is one of the best conditioners i've ever tried. It comes with a separate pump and very clear instructions. I followed these by the book and the results absolutely amazed me; salon washed hair at last! The one thing about this product i don't like is the fig scent, it's just not to my sweet-smelling taste at all, it's a mixture of mint and a wood kind of smell.. I honestly can't describe it any better. I can deal with the scent for the soft flowing salon-professional locks it leaves me with though!

MAYBELLINE FIT ME COMPACT PRESSED POWEDER IN NATURAL BEIGE - I'm really not a big powder user, I often find it can look quite cakey and find it a bit unnecessary on the full coverage high end foundations i use, but i recently purchased Mac Studio Fix which left my skin a little more dewy and oily than i'd like so i picked this up from Boots to give it a whirl. It comes with a little applicator sponge but i prefer to use a powder brush, and the results are pretty impressive for a drug store buy. The powder looks natural and gives a matte look without looking too caked or over powdered, perfect for a natural daytime look! There are a few different shades for olive toned skin and pink toned skin so i'm sure anyone can find a shade that suits them.

SOAP & GLORY SOLAR POWER THE GREATEST GLOW ON EARTH - Soap & Glory fangirl, this is truly getting embarrassing. I really love this bronzer, there is a darker shade on the left and a lighter shade on the right, so depending on where i am going or what time of the day it is i can decide how bronzed i want to go. This is an amazing product for contouring your face, brushing the darker powder under cheek bones for definition and the lighter tones around the forehead and jaw. Just a really handy daytime to nighttime product which looks good without breaking the bank!

Jupiter Winter

Coat - Topshop
Fur Stole - Ebay (here)
Embellished Collar Jumper - Topshop
Burgundy Speckle Jersey Dress - Topshop
Hi-Tops - Primark
Black Cross Necklace - Topshop

This fur stole is probably my favorite winter purchase so far. It can just winter-up any outfit and completely transforms all the jackets and coats i throw it on over. I can see myself buying the 'Black Racoon' colour too very soon to be honest, at £11.99 they're so reasonably priced. I'm wearing my new Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation here which i will have to review soon, i remember it being near impossible to find a review when i was contemplating buying it, but it's absolutely amazing i can't reccommend it enough! Enough spoiling though, I'll save my praise for the post. I need some new blogs to follow, i've not actually sat down and had a good snoop around in ages now so feel free to link me up!

Mountain Sound

Leather Jacket - Primark
Fur Scarf - Ebay
Checked Shirt - Vintage
Grey Midi Dress - Primark
Hi-Top Sneaker Wedges - Primark
Gold Cross Necklace - Topshop

I didn't realise how Primark crazy this outfit was until i was typing it up, i'm usually not much of a Primark shopper as i find i wear the clothes once and they never see the light of day again, with the exception of a few staple pieces like this leather jacket! I seen these wedge hi-tops and although my friend was making vomit noises at me when i tried them on i just had to buy them! They're so comfy and are just the right amount of extra height for daytime shopping or running a few errands. (I'm only 5''3 so i tend to rarely wear flats.)

I will be spending the rest of the afternoon adding things to my ebay account as i'm having a bit of a much needed clear out so have a look here!

Also, while i have been slacking on the blogging front i've been absolutely glued to Instagram this week, it's becoming a bit of an addiction! Follow me @laurenjade109

Barry M Rose Quartz & Blue Moon (Review and Swatch)

Barry M Blue Moon £2.99
Barry M Rose Quartz £2.99

Barry M has been one of my favorite nail polish brands since i was around 15, alongside my recent love of Models Own. I just think the shades are completely spot on and are always really fresh and current. This Rose Quartz is particularly stunning! It's like champagne in a nail polish. There are larger glitter particles in a rose champagne pink shade which overlay a sea of little minuscule particles which look amazing when the light catches. At £2.99 these Barry M shades are contageous, and incredibly good value.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC25 (Review & Photo)

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC25

I have been using Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation now for the past 3 or so years while trying out the odd foundation here and there which never quite stuck.. and while it is an absolutely impeccable product i just fancied a change. So i purchased the MAC Studio Fix Fluid n NC25 to give it a whirl. The first day i used this, i won't lie was at 6.30am, and i absolutely hated it. I just felt so washed out and oily looking and the coverage was seriously poor. But given the lack of sleep i had the night before and being up from 6am i thought it deserved the benefit of the doubt, so upon a further few days of applying it i feel like i have a better understanding of this product. Some of the MAC foundations (this one in particular) get bad press in the blogging community and it really put me off even attempting any of them, and also made me really sceptical of this product, in a way i was expecting it to be awful before actually giving it a chance. With this foundation you need to use quite sparingly and build it up as you go, applying in a circular motion with a good foundation brush (Real Techniques are outstanding - as if you hadn't heard of them!). It takes a little extra attention than what i was used to with my Doublewear, after three years you get into a way of firing it on your face in a matter of minutes when you have somewhere to be, but with the extra care in applying the Studio Fix comes great coverage, an even tone and complexion, and a luminescent quality as if it has a bult in highlighter. Everyone is obviously different, but i find a slight oiliness to my skin when i apply this, so i dust a very little amount of powder on top.. literally a skim! I've been using a Topshop powder and a Maybelline Fit Me (220 Natural Beige). I've actually done a complete U-turn from initially trying this product out, and wound up putting it (almost) up there with my Doublewear!

I would actually love to know how everyone else found MAC's Studio Fix Fluid so if you have tried it let me know!

Landslide

Grey Herringbone Boyfriend Coat - River Island
Grey Roll Sleave Tshirt - Topshop
Lace Crop Top - Topshop (worn underneath)
Black Skinny Trousers - River Island
Gold Chain - Ebay
Belt - Asos
Bowler Hat - Topshop

You may or may not have seen my Winter Wants post from a few days ago, i ended caving and buying the black skinny jeans and grey boyfriend coat. I absolutely love the trousers, which is strangely bizarre for me as i never really wear them, in fact i actually only own three pairs and i can't remember the last time any of them seen the light of day! What's great about River Island trousers is you can chose your size but also chose Short Medium or Long in leg length to correlate for the perfect fit. The coat i'm less enthusiastic about, it's so gorgeous and snug, but it's so long for my 5''3 body! It really does dwarf me so i have to wear high heels with it which is less than i ideal for someone who only really wears them on nights out.   Today i'm going into town for a bit of retail therapy even though i really shouldn't.. It just has to be done sometimes!
