Week in Photos #6

001. Quick fat-stop on our road trip. 002. Siting on a big rock on the beach in the sun! 003. My head looks huge... 004. Conan and Kyle playing football on the beach. 005. Smiley Clare! 006. The first of 8 boxes - we're not proud of ourselves. 007.Loving the Louise Gray leaflet i picked up in Topshop. 008. Gonzo! I was determined to win something from the teddy machine haha. Souvenir :) 009. Spending splurge.. 010. Models Own Utopia and Ibiza Mix nails. 011. New studded knitwear from Topshop. 012. Utopia by Models Own.

Lovely week all round! Our three day trip to Southern Ireland for some fresh sea air was just what i needed after being confined to Derry and Belfast for a year, and missing out on holidays due to a serious lack of organisation.. There's still time yet, i'm contemplating Pitchfork festival in Paris in early November if i can find a pal or two to go! Been absolutely dying to get to Paris for ages now, i've been a few times but i was too young to really appreciate it, it's such a beautiful city! Anyway, completely loving my nails, so much so that i've dedicated two show-off pictures of them; Models Own Utopia with a coat of Ibiza Mix! Nicest combination i've probably ever had on my nails, so i'm well and truly onboard the glitter nail craze, can't wait to get some more!

How Much Is Your Face Worth?

Soap & Glory Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion: £9.00. Benefit 'That Gal' Brightening Face Primer: £21.50. Estee Lauder Doublewear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer in Light to Medium: £20.00. YonKa Pamplemousse Vitalizing Cream: £23.00. Estee Lauder Doublewear Stay-In Place Makeup: £27.50. Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion: £18.00. Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow Palette: £36.00. Benefit High Beam Highlighter: £18.50. Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen: £5.00. Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara: £18.50. Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in 'Flushed': £5.99. Mac Satin Lipstick in 'Snob': £14.00. Benefit 'Hoola' Bronzing Powder: £23.50

Total: £240.49

I seen this tag on a few blogs yesterday including Lily's so i thought i'd take part today.. and, well, i'm embarrassed! In fairness i only dab the concealer on little blemishes, and i only use the YonKa cream for blending the Doublewear into my skin so it looks more natural and i could do that with any moisturizer so there's so real need for a high end product here. I've justified this to myself by realizing how long-lasting high end products are, my Doublewear foundation always lasts me months as i mix it with creams to dilute the high coverage. The 'Hoola', 'They're Real' mascara, and 'High Beam' are literally endless! I got all these one Christmas from my mum and i'm pretty sure it was a year and a half ago!

Would love to know if you took part in this tag! Link me up!

August Joliebox Review

001. So Susan Cosmetics - Lip Cushion. 002. Dr Bronners Pure-Castile Soap 'Pillows'. 003. Joliebox Leather Hair Styling Lace. 004. So Susan Cosmetics - Wide Awake Face Palette. 006. Paul Smith Be Gorgeous - Revitalising Dry Shampoo.

I really try to be positive in my blog, and if i have a negative or 'so so' experience with a product, i'll just simply not include it. However, i know a lot of people reading blogs and beauty box reviews do so to find a beauty box they want to subscribe to and pay money for, so i'm going to be really honest and say i'm not overly thrilled.. It's just fine, you know?! The lip balm is a really lovely scent, and you will no doubt love it if your a strawberry fan, but it's absolutely minuscule and is completely drowning in the box they have provided, though i will admit the So Susan packaging is really cute. I'm a bit disappointed in the palette as i thought it looked lovely; the creams really don't do anything on your face, and there is much more fall away on the application of the eyebrow shadow than what actually stays on your brow which obviously isn't ideal.. i get a really 'cheap' feeling from the products in the palette, if i'm ignoring the lovely packaging! I'm comparing it to Benefit and Urban Decay primers and highlighters that i use already so maybe that's a bit unfair of me..I like that they've included a brush and a set of tweezers, pretty handy for anyone who didn't own some already . One product i'm really pleased with is the dry shampoo, as i had intentions of purchasing one anyway so that's saved me some pennies; it's also a really good size for something that has come in a Beauty Box! The soaps however are not a good size, which is a shame as the peppermint and citrus orange pure-castile soap both smell absolutely lovely and while i'm not going to go out of my way to seek them again, i would probably buy them if i happened to come across them! In the July Joliebox, we received a toe separator for painting your nails; they've clearly decided to run with the idea of a Joliebox brand 'extra' in the August box which comes in the form of.. a string of leather. If i'm really blunt and honest about this i think it's a bit of a joke! I have no idea what i'd do with it, and maybe i'll eat my words when i find out what other people have done with theirs but at the moment i just see it as nothing more than a strip of material wound round a piece of cardboard to beef the box up a bit!

So to sum up, like the balm, love that i got some dry shampoo, feel the palette is a bit disappointing, and don't really get the leather string or miniscule samples of soap! I know this has probably come across as really negative, i've tried to inject my positive feelings as much as i can. I wouldn't say i'm disappointed in the box as a whole, i just really liked the July one and i don't think the August one really catered for me.. One man's treasure and all that! If you got a Joliebox this month i do hope you liked yours!

Hunting For Witches

Black Crop Top - Topshop
Black & White Dip Hem Skirt - River Island
Leather Sleeve Army Jacket - River Island
Alba Boots - Topshop
Cross Necklace - Topshop

I bought this skirt what seems like ages ago in a spontaneous purchase i ended up regretting.. After a couple of weeks of being demoted to the back of my wardrobe, folded up on a shelf without even a hanger to it's name, it was resurrected only because i was going to take it to town to return it. But then i tried it on and ended up wearing it that day! I love the edgy tye-dye effect print, reminiscent of the camo craze, on such a light and airy material. So lesson learned, trust my instincts!

Beauty and Skincare Haul

001. The Body Shop Strawberry Puree Body Lotion & Body Mist. 002. Eylure Naturalites Evening Wear False Lashes. 003. Soap & Glory Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion with Bronze Burst Beads. 004. Aussie; Dual Heat Protection Leave-In Spray, Miracle Moist Shampoo and Take The Heat Three Minute Deep Treatment. 005. Models Own Nail Polish in 'Utopia' and 'Headkandi: Ibiza Mix'.

I really detest the word 'haul' for some reason but i couldn't think of another title! Today i definitely went a little bit bonkers in Boots.. Finally got myself a Boots card which should be well worth the extra 60 seconds at the till applying for one given i spend around 75% of my annual income in the place.. I don't think i can be blamed when you consider the tempting 3 for £10 deals and the lure of the Soap & Glory sections! I went in with the intention of buying a new hair conditioning treatment which i mentioned in my last post, seeking a new treatment i'd never tried before.. but after the lovely suggestions from you, and the 3 for £10 deal i just couldn't resist. If it's not broken, right? Aussie products work a dream on my hair so i'm pretty pleased i have a reliable conditioning set that i know was money well spent, rather than something new and risky! I also had a glitter nail polish on my mental to-buy list, and actually wasn't sure about this 'Ibiza Mix' one by Models Own until i got home and swabbed it on my thumb. It's absolutely gorgeous, the best way i can think of describing it is a party on your nails! I'll probably do a little mini review on some of these things so i'll keep my comments for that.. I made a spontaneous trip into The Body Shop', probably lured in by the smell if i'm honest, and bought the Strawberry Puree Body Lotion and Body Mist. I've been using a few products from the Strawberry range for about a year so i knew i couldn't go wrong with these, I decided to give the Body Mist a whirl as the girl in the shop convinced me it 'enhances' the smell of the lotion, bit skeptical about that as it's one of those mythical kind of products but we'll see how it goes! Picked up a pair of Eylure falsies for upcoming nights out in town, i tend to always go back to Eylure when i'm buying fake lashes, they're juts really dependable and i find the glue in them is the best out there.. And of course being at the eyelash section i couldn't resist maneuvering around the corner to Soap & Glory. I've loved every product I've tried by them so i figured i'd give the Glow Job Lotion a whirl. My skin has been pretty dull all week, probably due to summer drinking if i'm honest; So pretty excited to see how it goes, though I've heard from a friend on Instagram that it's a bit disappointing.. we'll see anyway. I also bought three new pairs of shoes, a dress and a studded jumper which you may have seen on my instagram (@laurenjade109) but i thought i'd just keep those for outfit posts instead of including them in a 'haul' post! Has anyone else tried any of these products? Would love to hear what you thought!

Little Talks

Floral Head Piece - Topshop
Leather Jacket - Primark
Cameo Necklace - Miss Selfridge (DIY alterations!)
White Lace Insert Top - Topshop
Waterfall Skirt - Topshop
Studded Suede Slip-Ons - Ebay

I've been quite lazy on the blog front this week, i think the few days i had in the south of Ireland drinking and rolling around the beach with my pals are probably responsible! But anyway.. It really must look like i never take this headpiece off! It's a genuine coincidence it seems to be in loads of the outfits i end up posting! Regardless, it's Summer so i'm trying to get some wear out of it before it becomes frowned upon in the Autumn weather. Me and a few friends have been discussing how we really can't wait for Autumn so we can hap ourselves up in lovely new winter coats, fur, tights, ankle boots and wooly hats! I've not really been buying many new clothes recently and i feel i'm due a treat, so i'm going into town tomorrow to have a nosy around for some new threads, makeup and some form of hair conditioning treatment! Suggestions on that one welcome as i usually end up in the hair aisle in Boots for 45 minutes reading bottles and probably looking very suspicious!

Web Picks 005

001.Black Baroque Print Cardigan - River Island. 002. French Connection Miss Lady Floppy Hat - ASOS. 003.Chain Collar Midi Dress by Sister Jane - Topshop. 004. Burgundy Acton Clean Buckle Boots - Topshop. 005. Black Bullet Ear Tunnel Earrings - Miss Selfridge.

So with Autumn rapidly approaching i thought i'd try compile a versatile transitional outfit for that awkward in-between season period! I'm really loving this baroque print cardigan by River Island which is quite surprising given i never liked one single other item which fell into the whole baroque print craze, i found it all a bit tacky! Especially those pieces which mixed leopard print into it.. But this cardigan is just so classy and elegant, yet edgy and wearable!

Mac Lipstick in 'Snob' Review

Mac Lipstick in 'Snob'

I look absolutely petrified/worried in this photo, i was in a rush so the one swift snap had to do before i rushed off with my friends for a few days in the south of Ireland. It was actually so much fun i'm hating being back! But anyway, i used this every day i was away and i absolutely love it. The colour is the exact shade i'd been practically searching for my whole life and the consistency is amazing, really smooth, creamy and long-lasting. It didn't dry up once and i would highly recommend the Mac lipstick range from going on my experience with this one! What's your favorite Mac shade?

Topshop Lipstick in 'Beguiled'

Topshop Lipstick in 'Beguiled'

So as you can probably tell by the complete scruffiness of this lipstick (which i'm very sorry about) it's been trailing around in my handbags with me for a good 6 months now! I think it's nice to see actual photographs on blogs though rather than internet steals as you can see the item actually being used! I literally didn't take it off through winter, it was the first slightly daring shade i'd ever tried as i'm a massive nude pink ambassador.. But i wound up loving it and it's still one of my all time faves. I like the Topshop range of lipsticks in general as they're creamy and smooth and don't do that awful patchy flaking thing that some other brands do. This is such a wearable colour for anyone, and i can see it already working it's way back into my nights out again!

The Wild Youth

Bowler Hat - Topshop
Crop Top - Topshop
Cross Necklace - Topshop
Shirt - Cult Clothing
Floral Jersey Skirt - Urban Outfitters
Leather Bag - Topshop

It took me almost a year to be able to physically wear this bowler hat outside the house, except once with my flatmate on a winters trek to the shop where the hat blew off and rolled down the main road at 20mph, followed by a lovely pair of Indian men chasing it who kindly brought it back to me, no joke! No wonder it don't wear it outside. But anyway, It's just one of those things that trends and you don't really feel comfortable trying to pull it off, a bit like my feelings on creepers , i love them but i just couldn't ever see myself wearing them, YA KNOW?

Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway for a pair of galaxy print leggings! It's ending in the next few days!
