September Joliebox

001. Twistband Hair Ties 002. Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion 003.Dr Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant 004. Balmi Mint Lip Balm 005. I Love... Strawberry Face Mask

After a glitch in the delivery of my parcel (nothing ever seems to be straight forward with Joliebox when it comes to the delivery...) It arrived yesterday, so i've had a little time to try most of these out already. I'm not going to lie, the September box seems really empty in comparison to previous boxes. But after looking at the products and reading about them, as skimpy as it seems, these are all products i would consider picking up myself to try out anyway.

001. Twistband Hair Ties - Completely pointless and unrelated item to find in a beauty box, after the random string of leather in the July box i was surprised to find another scrap of material in this one, i don't really know how they can pass this off as a beauty box item as it's basically a hair bobble. I sound so pesimistic but these silly items have really bugged me! It just seems like a box filler..

002. Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion - This is something i'm really excited about using! I have quite dry but thich hair so it can be really unpredictable, some days it will be really puffy and frizzy and others it will be absolutely fine, so i'm hoping this could keep my frizzy days to a minimum! It is a best selling lotion which controls hair for naturally straight results whilst providing heat protection and banishes frizz, yay!

003. Dr Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant - A marine based exfoliant to smooth, cleanse, brighten and renew tired skin. I tried one of the little sachets out earlier (there was just about enough in the packageing), i wasn't overly impressed which was a bit disappointing as it's a high end exfoliant. It's a nice product to use though don't get me wrong, it leaves skin feeling really soft, but i'm not sure how much it actually exfoliated.. the endless search for a miricle face exfoliator continues!

004. Balmi Mint Lip Balm - A lovely fresh scented balm which contains SPF 15 to moisturise the lips and protect from harmful UVA rays. I just love the packageing and shape of this product, and i'm really loving mint products recently so i'm pleased i got this flavour!

005. I Love... Strawberry Face Mask - I do not love this strawberry facemask (i know i'm sorry i went there). It's really gungey and sticky, and i found you're actually better only using half of the sachet as it won't dry in if you layer it up as much as i did. This is more of a 'peel' than a mask. It's a really nice scent, but i found my skin feeling quite dry after use. I don't really think this should have been included as it's quite a budget skincare brand and beauty boxes are all about high end cosmetics so.. There we have it.

This is my last Joliebox, i'm sort of over the beauty box novelty. I think the market has become a bit oversaturated with them and to be honest it's become less about getting high end samples out there and more about how little the companies can get away with putting into each box. I think i'd much rather save the money for my own trips to the cosmetics counters so i can pick what my money goes on! Also i've been absolutely useless at blogging this week, i had a lot going on between making up a portfolio and prepping for an interview i had, so fingers legs and arms crossed!

Week in Photos #8

001. Asos delivery! 002. September skies at the beach for a strole. 003. Minnie Mouse bow hair! 004. Weird little pathway on our trip to the countryside. 005. Lush emotional brilliance reading. 006. Lush goodies! 007. City hall looking lovely. 008. Dinner with friends at Villa Italia. 009. Kate 04 lipstick by Rimmel! Goths out. 010. Step into my office baby. 011. Pretty random picture of my pal in a cage. 012. The end of the rainbow we spied on a bus journey!

Had a fab week shopping round Belfast, dining with my friends from uni, going on nice countryside and beach stroles while the weather is still half decent and generally spending every dime i own. I'm a bit late in the game but i managed to get an 'Emotional Brilliance' reading from the lovely assistant at Lush in Belfast. I apparently have 'charm' (i'll take that), need 'lifted' and achieve this through being 'intuitive'. The colours were a lovely pastel peachy pink, lime green with a hint of gold shimmer and a beige kind of nude. I'm sure it's not accurate in the slightest but it was a nice little exercise and passed few minutes regardless!

Atlas Hands

Bowler Hat - Topshop
Denim Shirt - Topshop
Leather Skirt - Missguided
Aztec Fur Collar Coat - Urban Outfitters
Burgundy Wedge Heel Ankle Boots - Primark
Chunky Chain Necklace - Topshop
Rings - River Island & holiday gift
Bracelets - Topshop

I couldn't have been happier to feel a chill in the air as it meant getting out my Urban Outfitters coat from last winter! I bought it in a January sale after being in love with it at full price for weeks, so i barely got to wear it as the weather went into Spring mode. These ankle boot wedges from Primark i picked up recently feel like they were made to go along with it, so that's always handy! I'm going to start a serious hunt for a new winter coat this week, there are so many gorgeous over sized silhouette cuts this season it's going to be pretty hard compared to most years when i can't find a single one i like. I eyed up a gorgeous black one in Topshop yesterday on a mannequin but i was in a rush to meet someone so i couldn't investigate!

Lush Sweet Lips Lip Scrub Review

Lush Sweet Lips Lip Scrub 25g £5.25

I had been really looking forward to a mini spree in Lush as i'd not been to Belfast in a good few weeks, so while i was there yesterday meeting some friends for dinner and Frappucinos i picked up a few bits and pieces! When looking around Lush it's easy to think things are a bit overpriced, but you have to keep in mind the values of the highly ethical values of the company, and of course the face that it's all hand made. Of the things i bought this is the only one i've had time to properly use, and i'm already addicted. The taste and scent is a sweet chocolate vanilla, and is made primarily from castor sugar, which is exactly how it feels! You apply the scrub with your finger and rub it in to your lips to exfoliate and hydrate them, before licking off the excess, which is a novelty i'm really into given it tastes completely divine. I absolutely hate lip glosses, and i find that with some balms the effect can be drying, resulting in you having to constantly re-apply throughout the day, but this is completely different. After removing the excess you're left with hydrated soft lips which feel natural and substance-free! No stickiness, no shiny glossy look, just healthy natural lips. I can tell this little pot is going to last quite a while as well, it doesn't seem to be going down and i've found myself reaching for it countless times over the last couple of days! If you're not into the sweet chocolate flavour, there is also a mint and a bubblegum flavour which i will definitely be trying out next.

Midnight City

Leather Sleeve Jacket - Missguided
Midi Dress - Asos
Black Chained Belt - Asos
Black Satchel - Primark
Studded Shoes - Ebay
Ear Cuff - River Island
Rings - River Island

Absolutely everyone has this jacket it's beyond ridiculous! For the price and quality though, who's really going to pass it up. I bought it a week or so ago in what was only my second ever Missguided purchase. I bought an oversize burgundy boyfriend blazer and when it arrived the material just felt so cheap, and it came complete with no lining .. Yes i said no lining! It still looked quite nice on but i just wasn't happy with it, i wore it once and sold it on ebay. So after that experience i've always been a bit wary of Missguided, but i just really had to have this jacket, and it's restored my faith in cheaper online retailers! This dress is another recent purchase i'm absolutely loving, once i seen it on LLYMLRS i needed it immediately! I've been looking for a nice plain midi for what seems like forever, there are so many prints out at the minute i had almost given up, so a massive thanks to Lily for showcasing this little number on her blog as i'm much to lazy to trawl through the endless dresses on Asos myself. Also, i have Rimmel's 04 lipstick from the original Kate Moss collection on my lips and i seem to have put a few people off it from my last post, i honestly love it and it's worth the extra care that comes with wearing such an opaque pigmented shade so please don't let me deter you!

Rimmel: Lasting Finish Lipstick By Kate In 04 Swatch/Review

Rimmel: Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in Shade '04'

I want so badly for this to be positive review of an outstanding lipstick, but unfortunately i'm feeling so love/hate about this product! This shade is from the original Rimmel collaboration with Kate, which consisted of seven lip shades which were launched to capture the 'flair, edge and timelessness of Kate's unique look'. 04 is a very dark purple with black undertones, and as i couldn't get a decent photograph of the packaging i can tell you it comes in a black tube with Kate's signature in red scrawled across the lid. The colour and pigmentation of 04 is absolutely amazing as the stick deposits 100% opacity of the blackened plum shade in one sweep across the lips, and is actually a lot darker than is represented in the photograph. While the consisency is smooth and creamy upon application, i find it doesn't set particularly well, and noticed little marks and smudges on my hands as i must have been touching my face. After a while the colour becomes unbalanced on the lips and certain areas are prone to a build up of pigmentation, and in other areas the colour is quite scarce. A good thing about this lipstick is that is doesn't dry out on your lips like a lot of highstreet brand lipsticks tend to do, the creaminess is kept relitively intact so it's very wearable in that sense. I actually really love the shade of this lipstick so i'll be very tempted to repurchase, it just needs quite a bit of upkeep and a few mirror checks while you're out and about!

Week in Photos #7

001. So Susan products from this months Joliebox. 002. My dog has officially taken over my bed! 003. Heading into town face. 004. Making the most of one of the last sunny days we're likely to have! 005. Spooted this in the toilet cubicle in the bar, who's complaining about graffiti when it's so complimentary! 006. Some lovely bands playing in town. 007. OOTD 008. Mid-shopping spree Starbucks with Kyle. 009. This chap scared the absolute life out of me outside the bar one night! Turned out he was in some play about zombies haha. 010. Elle Grey and Juicy Jules nails. 011. The craft village always reminds me of the country side even though its in the middle of the city! 012. Outfit snap.

Aside from a shopping trip with Kyle to help get his girlfriend a girl-approved birthday present, several £200 pounds worth of presents i should say, i don't feel like i've been doing too much! I took a couple of trips into town as there were a few bands playing, a documentary screening for a new record label, and some DJ sets in town; I jumped at the chance to attend as there's rarely anything out of the ordinary going on around here. Just scanning over these photo's it really looks like i live in a tiny quaint little village in the Irish countryside.. it's actually a place called the Craft Village and it's plonked in the middle of the city! Weird huh? It's really lovely, reminds me a bit of Diagon Alley, Harry Potter nerd alert!

Primer Dream Team!

001. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
002. Benefit 'That Gal' Brightening Facial Primer

001. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - I've been using this eye shadow primer for literal years now and i wouldn't even consider buying an alternative! If it ain't broke and all that. It is applied with a wand and the consistency is a smoothing creamy texture, but it does begin to stiffen more the longer you have it.I think this is priced around the £18.50 mark at the Urban Decay counter in Debenhams, sounds steep but it lasts absolutely ages, and when it does it's job so well it makes it a bit hard to question the price tag! Sounds awful but sometimes after nights out it's just too much of a chore to take a wipe and remove my makeup, and in the morning my eye shadow is completely intact! You can't ask for more than 24 hours staying power really? Not only does the primer make the shadow stay on longer, it enhances the colour too! When i forget to put the primer on first i instantly notice upon applying eye shadow; the colour isn't as vibrant, and the skin isn't as smoothed out and crease resistant, I can't recommend this product enough!

002. Benefit 'That Gal' Brightening Facial Primer - A shimmering pink toned substance which you twist out of the dispenser and rub into your skin before the application of makeup, according to the bottle you can wear it alone too but i'm not sure the pink tone would do much for anyone. This product is aptly named, it brightens the appearance of skin and provides a smooth, silky, and hydrated base for foundation to glide on to. It absorbs quickly, leaving a bright satin finish which feels smooth and lightweight - just what you want from a primer really!

Plastic Jungle

Polka Dot Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Pins & Needles Boyfriend Blazer - Urban Outfitters
Burgundy Wedges - Primark
Black Polka Dot Popsocks - Topshop
Pork Pie Hat - Topshop
Chunky Gold Chain - Topshop

I wore this outfit last weekend to a friends birthday. I picked this dress up on a whim while killing some time waiting for a lift home from town, and after not even bothering to try it on i actually wound up really liking it! It's alot girlier than anything i would usually go for.. embarrassingly enough my friends like to call me their little goth so hopefully this helps give that nickname the boot! I think it works really well with these burgundy wedges i managed to find in Primark - i never find anything in there and am always so jealous when i see the bargains everyone else picks up so i was proper pleased with myself! The lipstick i have on is Beguiled by Topshop, but when i was trying this all on i really wished i had a dark plum/verging on black shade, so if anyone knows of any nice gothy looking lip stick shades please let me know and i'll be eternally grateful!

Soap & Glory: Glow Job Review

Soap & Glory: Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion

After purchasing this daily radiance moisture lotion from Boots i was warned by a friend that it had streaking tendencies, which seemed odd to me as i thought i'd bought a standard bottle of facial moisturizing cream. Turns out, there are 'bronzeburst beads built in', which burst on your skin upon application and add a bronzed tone; the effect is pretty much like  that of a tinted moisturizer really! The lotion is a thick creamy consistency, and appears snow white until you begin to rub into your skin; a few sparse tiny beads can be felt between your fingers and your face, and they 'burst' leaving a bronze trail which you rub into your skin.. It's hard to explain evidently seen in my poor effort! I can perhaps see why it might end up streaky if you don't rub it all in correctly, but it's completely instant so i really haven't had this issue at all! I apply this before my foundation for a nice tinted and even base, and is subsequently a brilliant alternative to tanning your face, which i really cant criticize enough; the tan particles get into your pores and it generally looks horrible in my experience. Would i recommend this? Yes if you're looking for a daily facial moisturizer with an added bit of bronze tint, it pretty much does what it says and i would purchase this again! I should also mention the lovely fragrance, not too dissimilar to the smell of orange flavoured chocolate?! Weird but there you go!

Soft Shock

Stud Shoulder Knitted Jumper - Topshop
Black Rosary Beads - River Island (Menswear)
Camo/Tye Dye Dip Hem Skirt - River Island
Black Alba Boots - Topshop
Personalized Charm Bracelet - Argento

I thought i lost this charm bracelet during the move back from uni but it turned up today! Was so pleased i had to wear it immediately, despite the fact it had resigned to permanently gathering dust for the last year on my jewelry stand. It's the type of charm bracelet you hook the charms onto, which is nice as the charms vary so much. I have a little vintage sewing machine, a clock, a key and a treasure chest, and i just think they're so much more interesting and personal than the Pandora's! (I know everyone loves them it's just a trend i never really got into). Though i absolutely love the birth stone rings Pandora have brought out recently! Anyway, this is what i wore into town today for lunch with my friends. This little River Island camo number almost got returned after i bought it and ignored it for 3 weeks but in a shock turn of events it's featured in my last two outfit posts! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Oh and Ps. Getting a bit bored of Instagram, think i need some lovely new 'grammers to follow! Follow me and i'll find you! @laurenjade109
